Brilliant Nigerian lawyer Tijani Ololade wins two full-ride scholarships to UK university, set to earn masters degree in Energy Law
A brilliant Nigerian Lawyer by the name of Tijani Ololade has won two full scholarships to study her master’s in Energy Law at the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom.
Tijani Ololade received the Commonwealth Scholarship and Steve Weston Trust Scholarship to pursue her Master’s in International Energy Law and Policy in the United Kingdom. She obtained her LL.B from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Nigeria.
After completing OAU, Lolade went to the Nigerian Law School where she graduated with first class honours and was called a barrister and solicitor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Explaining her experience of winning the scholarship on her LinkedIn, she said that it is the fruit of her four years of hard work. Lolade said she applied for scholarships for four years making over forty funding applications.
Lolade stated that she began with her application in 2019 after spending one year working with one of Nigeria’s top energy, oil and gas law firms, Aluko & Oyebode, where she specialized in energy law practice and policy.
She said that since she began applying to the top international law schools to take her postgraduate degree, she has been accepted into excellent institutions such as New York University, University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University, University of Berkeley, University of Aberdeen and University of Groningen.

However, due to financial constraints, she was unable to attend any of the institutions that had quality energy law programs.
Lolade said she even won a 60 per cent tuition scholarship and took a loan to study at the George Washington University, but the visa application was turned down. Lolade said she had a positive attitude and kept on even in the face of adversity.
Her effort and relentless drive paid off when she was a recipient of the two all-inclusive scholarships for her LL.M program in International Energy Law and Policy provided by the Commonwealth and the Steve Weston Trust Scholarship.
Lolade said the opportunity will lead her to look deeper into the complicated legal and policy elements of the global energy landscape. She thanked everyone who supported him in the process of the application.
